Wexford Civil Defence – Search & Recovery Activity – March 2012

Wexford Civil Defence was activated by An Garda Síochána, Gorey on Sunday 18th March requesting assistance from with a search for a missing person in the Gorey area to commence on Monday 19th March. The Garda Air Support Unit and dog handlers were activated and Wexford Civil Defence search team met with them at Toss Byrne’s pub, Inch, Gorey at 2.30 pm. Civil Defence provided maps, vehicles, communications and search teams. Approximately 1 ½ hours into the search one of the Civil Defence search teams found the body of the missing person, called the Sergeant- in- charge and the search was stood down. Civil Defence held a de-brief at Gorey Fire Station.
