River Barrow Search – Athy, Co Kildare

The search for a man reported missing after his Kayak capsized in a tragic accident on Sunday 28th February concluded on Saturday 6th March following the recovery of the man’s body (RIP).
Civil Defence had over 80 volunteers participating in the search  – resources deployed included, 4 boats, 4 rafts, a number of SRT teams, a Drone Team, 2 Search Dogs, and a Communications Unit.  There was great intercounty teamwork displayed by volunteers from Kildare, Dublin, Laois, Waterfors City, Kilkenny and Carlow units.
