Mayo Civil Defence – Awards Night 2013

Mayo Civil Defence held its Awards Night at the Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar on Friday 20th Sept. 2013

In attendance were Volunteers past and present, Ms Rose Doherty Civil Defence Officer, Mr J O Malley Cathaoirleach Mayo County Council, Ms Roisin McGuire Civil Defence College Principal and Mr Peter Hynes Mayo County Manager.

Certificates were presented in the following areas:
Cardiac First Responder, Occupational First Aid, Emergency First Responder, Search Management & Field Search Skills, Managing Safely, National Powerboat, Manual Handling

Ms Rose Doherty CDO awarded the following promotions:
Mr Michael Jordan to 2nd Officer
Mr David O Sullivan to 3rd Officer
Mr John Derrig to Leader
Mr John Flannery to Leader

A presentation was made to Ms Marcella Fitzpatrick on behalf of Mayo Civil Defence by Ms Rose Doherty CDO and Ms. Martina Duffy First Officer in recognition of her loyal service to the organisation as she is now taking up service with Sligo Civil Defence.

The Cathaoirleach, County Manager and College Principal spoke of the commitment and effectiveness of the organisation in Mayo and thanked all for their hard work throughout the year. Ms Rose Doherty CDO outlined the work done throughout the year, thanking in particular her Volunteers for their ongoing support. She also acknowledged the support of the Director of Services, Mayo County Council Management and the Civil Defence Headquarters and College.

Commander Fran Power on behalf of the Volunteers of the organisation thanked the Civil Defence Officer and Management for their ongoing commitment to their volunteers and the high standard of training and equipment that is always maintained and forthcoming when required.
