Limerick Flood Relief Efforts – February 2014

Limerick City and County Civil Defence Units were activated as major floods inundated parts of Limerick City on Saturday 1st February. 27 volunteers turned out on the day. Using boats and 4 wheel drive vehicles they helped evacuate residents to safety. Civil Defence volunteers were on duty for over 12 hours.

On Sunday 2nd February 18 volunteers were on duty, but thankfully the waters receded.

On Monday 3rd February 14 volunteers are on stand-by. High tide passed at 8.40 am without further flooding.
