Grimp Day 2015 Rope Rescue Challenge

23 June 2015

The Grimp Day 2015 Rope Rescue challenge in Namur, Belgium was the tenth year of the event and was run over two days to celebrate the anniversary. It was also the fifth year that the Rope Rescue team from Meath Civil Defence has taken part.   There were ten individual challenges in this year’s event – five on each day.   The individual sites were extremely interesting, varied and very challenging.   The first days sites were located about 30km outside Namur with the second day in and around the city.   Sites varied from a 60 metre climb up a rock face to reach a casualty to recovery of a suspended tight rope and many more. The Meath team completed nine of the ten challenges over the two days and allowing for language barriers received very positive feedback from the assessors on each of the sites.
