COVID 19 – Essential Workers

28 March 2020

Update 28 March 2020

You will be aware of the extra restrictions announced by the Taoiseach on Friday 27 March 2020. This requires everyone to stay at home for the next 14 days. There are exceptions and one is for essential workers which Civil Defence Officers and volunteers fit into.

The full list is published on www.gov.ie

You will be aware from your CDO, ACDO and fellow volunteers that the range and number of taskings from the Principal Response Agencies is increasing day on day. This is expected to continue to increase in the weeks ahead. It is expected that taskings from the National Ambulance Service will commence during next week – week beginning 30 March 2020.

In that context and as per previous communication, please familiarise yourself with the range of COVID-19 guidance on the Civil Defence website especially with regards to PPE. There are links to some useful videos as well. If you have questions or queries having reviewed the material, please discuss with your CDO or ACDO.

Collectively we have a huge role to play in slowing down the spread of this virus. Therefore please continue to follow the HSE guidance around social distancing, washing your hands and cough etiquette. In addition, please ensure to spread the importance of that message to all your family, friends and colleagues.

We centrally within the Civil Defence Branch of the Department of Defence will continue to provide regular updates for all Civil Defence volunteers over the coming weeks and are in constant communication with your CDOs and ACDOs.
