COVID – 19 and Civil Defence

In light of the current situation, all non-essential Civil Defence training has been suspended in line with Government policy around social distancing. Civil Defence does however remain on standby to assist the Principal Response Agencies as normal if required.

We encourage all Civil Defence volunteers to familiarize themselves with proper procedures for donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE) and also handwashing. There are links to some useful videos on this site.

Civil Defence has not yet been tasked in relation to COVID-19. However, discussions are taking place with the National Ambulance Service as to how Civil Defence can support them, if required.

We will provide regular updates for all Civil Defence volunteers over the coming weeks and are in constant communication with your Civil Defence Officers.
