1916 Medal Presentation, Mayo Civil Defence

 At a ceremony in Castlebar on Monday evening, 27th November, former Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD presented 1916 Commemorative Medals to 35 members of Mayo Civil Defence. Mr Kenny thanked the volunteers for their great dedication in supporting the emergency services and assisting at community events. He particularly noted their efforts in Belmullet earlier this year during the lengthy search for the crew of Coastguard Helicopter 116. The ceremony was also attended by Peter Hynes, Chief Executive and John Condon, Director of Services, Mayo County Council. Aidan Dillon represented the Department of Defence. Ballyglass Coast Guard Unit was also represented at the event.
