How the People of Buttenvant Transformed a Convent for People Fleeing Ukraine

The Irish Examiner newspaper today reported on how the people of Buttevant, at the direction of Cork North Civil Defence, transformed an old convent that has been lying idle for more than four years for almost 50 Ukrainian refugees in a few short hours last Friday. A special presentation by Civil Defence Officer James McConnell took place on Wednesday night, 22nd December acknowledging the mamoth achievenment of five Dublin Civil Defence volunteer members having surpassed 60 years of service with the organisation.   The famous five are –  Catherine Donaghy, Liam Lowe, Gerry Doyle, Dave Murnaghan and Michael Carroll.
