Clare Civil Defence honoured by Clare County Council
19 June 2026
On Monday, June 15 Clare Civil Defence was acknowledged at a Clare County Council Civic Reception in recognition of the organisation’s decades of voluntary commitment to communities across the county.
Speaking at the event, Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr Paul Murphy, described the reception as a fitting acknowledgement of the invaluable contribution made by Civil Defence volunteers, noting that their work has been a “constant source of reassurance to the people of Clare” over more than 75 years of service.
Clare Civil Defence has long played a vital role in supporting emergency services and the wider community. Involved in more than a hundred events annually, their work spans emergency response, public event safety, search and rescue operations as well as assistance during severe weather events. Delivered entirely on a voluntary basis, this service has had a profound and lasting impact across the county.
