Monaghan – Rescue of Fishermen
9 December 2015
Monaghan Civil Defence was contacted by Monaghan Gardaí on Monday 23rd November approx. 2.30pm to rescue two fishermen on an island.
Two fishermen from Dublin were camping out overnight on an island on Lough Egish. Their boat drifted out into the lake. One of the fishermen tried to swim to recover the boat but had to return to the island. The boat crew went to the scene, located the two men and brought them to safety.
The Civil Defence boat crew then assisted in recovering the fishermen’s boat which was on the other side of the lake. Both men were very grateful to the crew for their prompt actions and professional assistance.
