Meath Civil Defence – Search & Recovery Update- February 2013

The search of the river Boyne which commenced on Sunday 3rd February came to a conclusion on Saturday 23rd February with the discovery of a body at Lally’s island near Bective.

At 7.50 am Civil Defence Officer Michael Fitzsimons received a call from Meath River Rescue that they had found a body at Lally’s island some 6.2Km from the point last seen in Trim. The CDO advised the Gardaí in Trim and agreed that the body would be recovered at Bective where appropriate religious and undertaker services would meet.

The body was formally identified as that of the missing person . The father of the missing person was present at the recovery and thanked all of the volunteers and organisations who worked tirelessly over the three weeks of the search.

The CDO who coordinated the search thanked all of the family and friends for the support with food and sustenance on a daily basis during the search. A large contingent of volunteers attended the funeral on 27th February.

May he Rest in Peace.
