Meath Civil Defence – Pink Tie Charity Event – August 2013

9 August 2013

Meath Civil Defence with the support of the Dublin Unit provided support and assistance to the organisers at a recent Pink Tie children’s cancer charity day-out in Dunboyne Castle Hotel. Over 250 children and volunteers were entertained with music and games in the hotel throughout the day. The hotel grounds hosted a range of displays and activities including a performance by the Garda Band, a display by the Garda armed support unit and the Garda mounted unit and Civil Defence. A highlight for all was the arrival of the Garda helicopter which performed some manoeuvres before departing on another tasking.

Volunteers from Meath displayed Ambulance and First Aid equipment, Fire Appliance and fire fighting equipment and the search dogs while Dublin brought along the two Hagalund Vehicles.

Children, their carers and family members were treated to trips in the Hagalunds, practice on ambulance equipment and fire fighting equipment and a display of skills by search dog Bowie with handler Kealan McMoreland.

The organisers thanked all the Civil Defence Volunteers for their presence and contribution to a very successful day for the children. Volunteers themselves expressed tremendous satisfaction from their involvement with the children.
