Mayo – Missing Person Search 21st-22nd November 2020

On Friday evening 20th November, Mayo Civil Defence was activated by An Garda Síochána to assist in a Missing Persons Search operation in the Killala area of north Co Mayo .
Civil Defence Volunteers were mobilised and 11 members arrived onsite at 9am on Saturday 21st November, which consisted of a Drone team and two shore search parties. Search teams stood down and returned to base at 6pm.
At 8.45am on Sunday morning 22nd November a Boat Team of three members and a shore search team of four members arrived onsite and operated until 3pm at which time teams were forceds to return to base due to deteriorating weather conditions.
Chief Superintendent Tony Healy thanked members for their assistance.
Unfortunately to date the search has not had a successful outcome and has been stood down until weather conditions improve later in the week.
Civil Defence worked alongside An Garda Síochána, The Irish Coast Guard, Gráinne Uaile Sub Aqua Team & The River Moy Search and Rescue Unit.
