Kilkenny – Search & Recovery, October 2014

On Saturday 17th October, Kilkenny Civil Defence, with the assistance of Laois Civil Defence volunteers responded to a call-out by An Garda Síochána to conduct a search operation in the Castlecomer area of County Kilkenny.
30 Civil Defence volunteer members conducted a search for a missing elderly man, assisted by South East Mountain Rescue, the Coast Guard Helicopter, members of Clogh/Chatsworth Community and members of the local GAA Club. The missing man was found and airlifted to Waterford Regional Hospital where he is making a steady recovery.
Assistant Garda Commissioner, AJ Nolan sent a letter of appreciation to Civil Defence Officer, Ray Regan acknowledging the dedication, professionalism and commitment displayed by Civil Defence during the course of the search operation.
