Kilkenny Civil Defence Search Operation – Thomastown

Kilkenny Civil Defence was activated by An Garda Síochána on Monday morning 24th February to assist in the search for a missing person in the Thomastown area. At 8.30 am the unit launched its Search Boat and dispatched crews, totaling 11 volunteer members, to both sides of the River Nore. The Civil Defence members, members of the Gardaí and community volunteers combed the river banks and surrounding area and at 3pm the body of the missing person was located and recovered by Kilkenny Civil Defence.
The Gardaí and members of the missing person’s family acknowledged the professional manner in which Civil Defence responded.
