Kildare Civil Defence – Missing Person Report

Kildare Civil Defence was requested by Gardaí to assist in the search for a missing person on Sunday 12th January 2014 in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare.
Two boats with crew searched on both the Canal and the River Barrow. This search proved to be unsuccessful.
Kildare Civil Defence was again activated to assist in a resumption of the search of the River Barrow for Friday 31st January 2014. The Garda Sub-Aqua team had completed a search of the Canal during the week and decided that the best course of action was to complete another search of the River Barrow in Monasterevin. The two Kildare Civil Defence boats launched at the slipway in Monasterevin at 10am.
Thankfully the search proved successful – at 11.45am Kildare Civil Defence located the body of the missing person. Following liaison with the Gardaí, Kildare Civil Defence removed the body from the water.
