Galway Search Operation

On Friday 4th June 2021 Galway Civil Defence was activated by An Garda Síochána to assist with the search of a missing male in the Galway City area. After a briefing with Garda search managers, Galway Civil Defence boat crews began a search of the canal areas on Friday afternoon.

The search area was extended to the River Corrib from Glenlo on Saturday morning and continued on Sunday. Mayo Civil Defence boat crew with side sonar together with two Galway Civil Defence boats and crews, and the drone crew conducted extensive searches of the River and canals over the weekend.

The missing person (RIP) was located in the water early on Monday morning, 7th June by a local rowing crew out training.
