Cork South Civil Defence – Sea Sunday – May 2012

Cork South Civil Defence attended the annual Sea Sunday Commemoration Service in Kinsale on Sunday May 13th 2012. The annual event is held to remember those who have lost their lives at sea. It remembers both emergency and rescue service personnel and also fishermen. A number of other agencies also participated in the service including Coastguard, Local RNLI Units, the Navy and the Gardaí.
The service was held in St Multose Church, Kinsale at 11am followed by a march through the town of Kinsale to the Seamen’s Memorial on the quays in Kinsale. Up to 20 Volunteers from Cork South Civil Defence participated in the march. A wreath as laid at the Seamen’s Memorial on the quays followed by a flyover by the Waterford based Coastguard Helicopter and also a flyby from an Air Corp Jet.
