Boat Rescue on River Shannon

Roscommon Civil Defence Water Unit came to the assistance of two separate cruisers whilst patrolling on the River Shannon this week, the first cruiser which had two persons on board lost power while approaching Roosky Lock Gates.
The Roscommon crew effected a rescue to prevent a collision with a second cruiser which was marooned on the buoy line safety barrier at the weir. The boat was towed to safe moorings and passengers transported to Dromad, there were no reports of injuries. The second cruiser which was marooned against buoy line safety barrier was towed upstream to safe waters to enable the crew to regain control of their vessel there was also no injuries reported.
