Civil Defence Flood Relief Efforts – Summary Report

3 February 2026

Over a sustained 6-day period, 7 Civil Defence Units (Carlow, Wexford, Monaghan, Laois, Kilkenny, Louth and Wicklow) have been deployed to assist communities in the worst affected areas following Storm Chandra.

Taskings:

Prepping residents to be evacuated from their homes

Evacuating persons from flooded homes

Transporting families to emergency accommodation

Manning Rest Centre

Conducting welfare checks to affected households

Transporting dialysis patients to and from treatment

Transporting vulnerable persons for medications and supplies

Drone Teams providing images of flooded areas for local authorities

Distributing sandbags to affected households and businesses

Assisting households with recovery phase

 

Resources Utilised:

Boat, Rafts, Ambulances, 4WD Vehicles, Box Trailer, Drones, Water Response Vehicle, Van, Rescue Truck, Minibus, Welfare Unit, Sandbags
