Storm Claudia – Wexford

Wexford Civil Defence received a call from Wexford Fire Service at 2:15am on Saturday morning, 15th November to respond to a flooding incident in Bridgetown. The Swiftwater & Flood Response Team was deployed with pumping equipment, emergency lighting, van and two 4 x 4s and an inflatable raft for potential casualty evacuation.

On arrival, the team was briefed by the Fire Officer, and welfare checks were carried out on two flooded houses. After locating and speaking with the occupants, they confirmed that they were safe and happy to remain upstairs.

Conditions travelling to the incident were extremely difficult, with the road to the houses under three feet of water. The team was stood down at 5:30am.
