People Handling Instructors Programme (QQI)
Programme Overview
Target Audience: Civil Defence Volunteers
The purpose of this programme is to equip Civil Defence Instructors with the knowledge, skill and competence required to design, deliver and evaluate People Handling Training. Successful participants are awarded a QQI Level 6 Component Certificate enabling them to deliver training to volunteers at a local level within the Civil Defence structure.
Participation in this programme ensures that instructors can effectively develop and tailor people handling to meet and address the various environments in which volunteers operate. An important component of the programme is the use of Dynamic Risk Assessment and T.I.L.E; all features of the course which address the requirements of the Heath & Safety Authority of Ireland.
The programme consists of 4 modules delivered over 154 hours through class contact and self-directed learning:
1. People Handling Risk Assessment
2. People Handling Principles and Techniques
3. Planning and design of People Handling Training
4. Delivery of People Handling Training
Each participant is required to undertake a three part assessment. The assessment consists of a theory examination, presentation / instruction of people handling techniques and a written assignment. All three assessments require a minimum mark to successfully complete the programme.
