Chairman's Address
 I am delighted to have been appointed as Chairman of the Civil Defence Board for a second term. The new Board held its first meeting in the Civil Defence Headquarters on the 11th September 2008. I have always had a keen interest in Civil Defence, stemming from the time when I was a County sub-warden with Limerick County Civil Defence and was involved in radiological testing and soil sampling.
I would like to welcome you to our website which provides information on the history of the organisation, its legislative background, the services provided and the establishment of the Board. I would like to highlight the Members Forum on the website where it is hoped to promote discussion between members of the organisation countrywide.
Civil Defence is all about providing voluntary services and support to the emergency services and the community. The strength of the organisation lies with its members who willingly and freely give of their time and expertise. The Board also recognises the commitment and dedication of the Civil Defence Officers and the important contribution of its staff.
It is our intention to keep this website regularly updated with reports on Civil Defence activities around the Country and I hope you will find your visit to our website both interesting and informative.
