Dublin City Civil Defence - Flood Exercise, 19/04/2009

A large scale Flood/Evacuation Exercise took place at Broadmeadow Estuary, Malahide on Sunday 19th April 2009.

Swords AFS, Dublin City HQ AFS, Marino AFS, Portmarnock Casualty and the Warden Service were all active during the course of the Exercise, supported by Fingal Council, Howth Coast Guard, Dublin Fire Services, Howth Harbourmaster and Fingal Water Safety Officer.

The Exercise highlighted the great co-operation, which exists between Civil Defence and Howth Coastguard. In total, six Fire & Rescue crews, three Boat crews, 20 Warden/Welfare members and 30-40 members who participated as evacuees, took part in the Exercise.

The Coastguard Sikorsky Helicopter arrived at the completion of the Exercise to the delight of the Civil Defence members who got the opportunity to view the helicopter and chat with the Coastguard crew.
