Lourdes 2010
Civil Defence members have been regular participants at the International Military Pilgrimage to Lourdes since 1994. Members provide first aid cover and assist with both marshalling duties and contingency planning. They also actively participate at various ceremonies, throughout the weeklong ceremony.
A total of twenty-two Civil Defence representatives, including the Chairman, Joe Meagher and Seamus Murray from the Executive, participated in the 2010 Pilgrimage which took place from 22nd May to 26th May.
Following celebration of Mass by the Civil Defence Chaplain, Fr. Sean McDermott on the Sunday morning, Civil Defence volunteer Margaret Hennessy and Civil Defence Officer Raphael Fallon were presented with medals in recognition of their service on at least three Lourdes pilgrimages.
