Civil Defence Board Members 2002-2005

The inaugural Civil Defence Board was appointed by the Minister for Defence in early June 2002 in accordance with Section 11 of the Civil Defence Act 2002. The Board was formally established by Order of the Minister in May 2003.

Nominations were sought from the relevant nominating bodies under Section 11 of the Act. Section 11(2)(c) allowed for the appointment to the Board by the Minister of four persons who, in the opinion of the Minister, have experience in business, Industry, finance or administration relevant to the Board’s functions. Under Section 11(5) of the Act, the Board is obliged to put procedures in place for the election of subsequent volunteer and staff members to the Board.
