Dublin Civil Defences New Hagglund

The new Hagglund BV206, recently purchased by Dublin Civil Defence, received widespread television coverage on its first day in action. The vehicle was televised in very heavy snow conditions during a rescue mission at the Sally Gap.

The purchase of the vehicle was fully funded by the Civil Defence Board as part of the Board’s planned strategic approach of assisting Local Authorities in making a response in adverse weather conditions.

The Hagglund is a very versatile vehicle and can travel on most inaccessible terrains – including water. The vehicle is capable of being deployed to all parts of the country on a flat-bed truck. Requests for the use of the vehicle from other Civil Defence areas can be channelled through Dublin Civil Defence.
